What SES.Hospedajes is
One obligation, whoever took the booking.
SES.Hospedajes is the Ministry of the Interior’s online platform for the guest register (parte de viajeros). It is based on Royal Decree 933/2021 and has been in use since 2 December 2024. It replaced the old paper guest books and covers hotels, campsites and holiday homes alike.
- 01
Who
Every host in Spain, professional or not. Airbnb and Booking.com do not send your guests’ details for you: the obligation is yours or your manager’s.
- 02
What
Identity, contact and payment details of each guest, plus the dates of the stay. Everyone aged 14 or over signs; the details of younger children are given by the adult they travel with.
- 03
When
Immediately, and in any case within 24 hours. The decree counts from the booking (or its cancellation) and from the start of the stay.
In practice, the task that matters every week is the guest register within 24 hours of check-in. Whether you also have to report the booking itself depends on how it was made — if in doubt, check it in SES.Hospedajes or with your gestor.
Sign up in four steps
Done once; after that, each property has its own codes.
Go to hospedajes.ses.mir.es and log in with a digital certificate (FNMT), DNIe or Cl@ve.
Register yourself as the host (arrendador): NIF, name, tax address and contact details. Check the NIF twice — a typo blocks everything after it.
Add each property (establecimiento): address, type of accommodation and your tourist licence number.
Save the codes and credentials the system gives you for each property. Your check-in software or website needs them to prepare the files.
What to collect from every guest
Tick them off — this is the list from Annex I of the decree.
0 / 16 details ready
Your 24-hour deadline
Enter a stay and see exactly when the data is due.
Runs only in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
Web form, XML file or web service.
Professional hosts: 3 years after check-out. Non-professional hosts don’t keep the register, but must still send the data.
The clock starts when the guest arrives, not when you remember. Late, incomplete or wrong data is a minor infringement; not keeping the register or not sending the data at all is a serious one.
Three ways to send the data
Same data, different amounts of typing.
- 01
Web form
Type each guest into SES.Hospedajes by hand. Fine for one property and a few stays a month.
- 02
XML file
Upload a file with one or several guests at once. Many check-in tools and websites generate it for you.
- 03
Web service
Software sends the data automatically with your credentials. Common for managers with many properties.
With a Costa Creative Lab website, guests fill in the check-in form online before they arrive: the link is in the booking confirmation, with reminders 7 and 2 days before arrival. You receive a signed PDF and, once your SES code is set, an XML file ready to upload — plus reminders 48 hours before arrival and on the morning of arrival. The website keeps no copy of the guests’ data. See how it works.
Catalonia and the Basque Country
Two regions with their own police and their own system.
Catalonia
- Mossos d’Esquadra (Generalitat de Catalunya)
- Within 24 hours of arrival
Some guides advise also sending to SES.Hospedajes — ask your gestor.
Basque Country
- Ertzaintza (registro hostelero)
- All communications go to the Ertzaintza, not to SES.Hospedajes
Use the Ertzaintza’s own service.
Rest of Spain
- SES.Hospedajes (Ministry of the Interior)
- Within 24 hours of arrival
One platform for every other region.
Not to be confused with the registration number for short-term rentals (Registro Único de Arrendamientos, RD 1312/2024). In May 2026 Spain’s Supreme Court annulled a large part of that decree; the ruling does not change guest registration under RD 933/2021.
Fines and the mistakes behind them
Minor infringements — late, incomplete or wrong data — are fined €100–600.
Common mistakes
- Assuming Airbnb or Booking.com reports your guests.
- Sending the data after check-out instead of within 24 hours of arrival.
- Leaving out children, or their relationship to the adult.
- Copying ID numbers by hand from a blurry photo.
Good habits
- Collect the data online before arrival.
- Check every ID against the document when the guest arrives.
- Send it on the day of arrival, not at the last minute.
- Keep the signed records for 3 years if you rent professionally.
